Entry procedure

The admission of a value to a daily total.

1. Scope

This procedure describes a new protein entry and its relationship to the daily total. Values are supplied by the person using the app.

2. Procedure

2.1 Entry

Enter a protein value in grams, or log a saved food. A saved food has a per-serving value entered by the user; the logged amount depends on the number of servings.

2.2 Addition

Add the new entry’s value to the previous daily total.

2.3 Display

Display the new daily total.

3. Reference construction

Addition: a previous total of 12 grams plus an entered value of 25 grams gives a new total of 37 grams.
  1. 01 / Input

    A number is entered.

  2. 02 / Processing

The number is added to the previous total.

  3. 03 / Output

    The new total is displayed.

HMP-OP-001 · Fig. 01All values in grams

A previous total of 12g and an entered value of 25g give a new total of 37g. These numbers describe an arithmetic example. No food is assigned either value.

4. Further entries

The new total becomes the previous total when another entry is added to the same day. See HMP-RN-001 §2.

5. Corrections

Editing an existing entry changes its contribution to the daily total. Deleting an entry removes that contribution. Neither action is another new entry under §2.2.

The equation states the relationship between the totals. It does not specify how the app stores or calculates them internally.

6. Terminology

Entered value · v
Protein attributed to the new entry, in grams.
Previous total · T
The daily total before the new entry.
New total · T′
The daily total after the new entry.
Record
Stored information about a logged entry.
